Be Still

Scripture tells us to “Be still and know that I Am near.”  The ability to BE STILL is one of the most powerful and profound abillities we acquire along the road to enlightenment.  Everyone is benefited by those who remain calm in the face of chaos.  When all around is  turmoil, those who remain calm are the ones who stabalize any situation.  We are all drawn to those who have developed the ability to tap into the center of their being and BE STILL.

Life is full of  challenges appearing to be critical.  Deadlines, appointments, accidents, commitments, monetary responsibilities, politics and family disputes all parade before us pretending to be all important.  But when we look at them from a deep perspective, from a point of realizing the eternal we sort through these imposters and see what is truly important.  As we develop our ability to BE STILL our days become peaceful.  We respond to daily challenges using the best of our abilities and accomplish more.  We teach by example the power in the present moment.  BE STILL and  allow yourself access to the present moment.  Fear is a theif that robs you of the present moment.  BE STILL and  know God is with you always in all ways.

Herman Melville in his book Moby Dick wrote:  “For as this appalling ocean surrounds the verdant land, so in the soul of man there lies one insular Tahiti, full of peace and joy, but encompassed by all of the horrors of the half-lived life.”

BE STILL and know within you is an island of peace and joy.  Tap into it and enrich you life.

NOW

It has been said that life is what happens while you’re planning tomorrow or looking back at yesterday.  And I believe that’s true.  We spend so much of our time thinking about what has already happened or what we hope to happen in the future, we neglect NOW.  The truth is all we have is Now.  Everything that has happened and everything that will happen  takes place in the perfect Now.  Now is the seat of action.  Now is the only time we  truly live.  If this is true why do we value it so little?  Sometimes Now is thought of an an inconvenience we must endure to get to tomorrow.  We hurry through the hours and days waiting for tomorrow not realizing Now is  full of energy and excitement.   We don’t even take notice of it.  If you’ve planned something wonderful for your future, that’s great….you will experience it in a present moment of Now.   But along the way, don’t over-look the power found in the  present, the moment of Now.  Look into the eyes of your loved ones, Now.  Feel the warmth of the sun, or the chill of autumn Now.  Enjoy each morsel you eat Now.  Forgive anyone who has hurt you Now.  Tomorrow will always be tomorrow where you have no power.  Today, right Now is all we have.  Be here!  Love here! Smile here! Forgive here!  There is a reason it is called THE PRESENT.

American History

American History is a required subject for schools in America.  My personal schooling grades K through 12 required many American History classes.   I have found that some importants facts of history are not being taught.  I am not sure why, but I believe we all gain greater love and understanding of our country when we learn more of the facts about our Founding Fathers and those who helped  mold this great country we call the United States of America.

Most of America’s immigrants came from Europe.  We came from cultures that believed  governance came from the top down.  It was believed that God ordained certain people as Kings and Queens to rule the common people.  Land was owned by the king or Queen who appointed Lords to administer the lands.  Commoners living on the land owed obedience and allegiance to their King or Queen and Landlord.  Communication was formal and full of pomp and circumstance and life was governed by a mountain of “Thou Shalt Nots,” and bathing was believed detrimental to good health.  So imagine their shock as settlers just off the boat from the Old World saw European-looking settlers skinny-dipping with natives.  Many wore Indian buckskins and their down to earth  informality was infectious.   The strongly held belief in equality of all permeated the culture.

Why had these Europeans changed so dramatically?   It was the influence of the American Indians.  These Indians had been living under a system of governance, The Iroquois Confederacy for hundreds of years.  Some say as early as 1100 but no later than 1500.  Through this confederacy Indian nations (Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Senica and later the Tuscaroras) had found a way to live in peace, harmony and mutual respect.  On July 4, 1744, a powerful Indian Chief, Canassatego, spoke at a meeting designed to forge an alliance between  the Iroquois and the colonists.  Chief Canassatego said,  “Our wise forefathers established union and amity between the five nations.  This has made us formidable.  This has given us great weight and authority with our neighboring nations.  We are a powerful Confederacy and, by your observing the same methods our wise forefathers have taken, you will acquire much strength and power; therefore, whatever befalls you, don’t fall out with one another.”

Benjamin Franklin who was present at the meeting later told of a powerful demonstration given by Canassatego at the meeting.  Canassatego approached Franklin and gave him a gift of one single feathered aarow.  When Franklin expressed confusion about the gift, Canassatego took back the aarow and broke it on his knee and let the pieces fall to the floor.  Then he presented to Franklin a sheaf of twelve aarows (one arrow for each colony represented) tied together in leather.  Not even the strongest man in the meeting could break them.

In 1787, John Rutledge of South Carolina read these words written 250 years earlier to members of the Constitutional Convention from Iroquois law:  “We, the people, to form a union, to establish peace, equity, and order…..”

Many historians believe Canassatoga is indeed one of our lost Founding Fathers.    American history must report the powerful affect the Iroquois culture and constitution had on the founding of the United States of America.  Resolution 331, was passed in October, 1988, which acknowledged the influence the Iroquois constitution had upon our own founding documents, including the Declaration of Independence.

When one looks at the great seal of the United States of America, the influence of Chief Canassatego cannot be denied.  However, for most Americans the meaning of the seal has been diluted.  Most will say the meaning of the olive branch is peace and the meaning of the arrows is Might or power or strenght.  But the real meaning is not “Peace through Might” but “Peace through Unity.”  Which is a lesson American History must never forget.

Next time you hold a dollar bill, remember Chief Canassatego

Peace Through Unity

Next time you hold a dollar bill, remember Chief Canassatego.

Walk in The Garden

I love to walk in the garden.  It brings peace to my soul and centers my mind.  There is something very spiritual about being in nature, whether it’s in a garden or a forest, high on a mountain top or sitting on a beach listening to the sound of the tides.  At these moments I feel close to God.  I believe we must find time every day to be in nature.  Not only should we be in nature, we should take our shoes off and walk on Mother Earth for at least 10 minutes every day.  Our bodies contain electrical curcuits.  In our world of asphalt, concrete and shoes with rubber souls we need to ground ourselves on Mother Earth everyday.  If you feel tense or frustrated it could be that you need to be grounded.  It’s amazing what a barefoot walk in the garden can do to relax and center your mind.

Another thing to do when in nature is let yourself feel the the amazing energy of life in nature. One way to do that is stop labeling everything you see.  We are so conditioned to put a label on everything we don’t realize we’re doing it.  Just be in nature without labeling things……that’s a butterfly, that’s a tree, that’s a bird, that’s a rose, etc.  When you place a label on anything, you loose ability to be affected by it.  Soren Kierkegaard said; “Once you label me, you negate me.”  And he was right.   Go out into nature and just feel the energy of life exploding all around you.  It’s amazing!  It’s spiritual!  You feel so blessed to be alive!

So, my friends, try taking a barefoot walk in the garden.  Feel the energy of life!  Let me know how it feels.

Who Are You?

I once heard a story about a philosophy professor who gave a test to his students.  The only question on the test was; “Who Are You?”  The students had thirty minutes to complete their essay.  They were told not to begin until the professor had given his full instructions.  Initially, the Students began to think through the normal biographical information.   The professor then gave instructions that none of the usual terms could be used.  In other words each student was instructed to write a essay about “Who Are You” without using age, gender, birthplace, family, likes, dislikes, talents, ethnicity or name.  They were further instructed that the test would count for the majority of their grade and  failure to to complete the test would result in a failing grade.

Now, I’d like to ask the same of you:  “Who Are You?”  Your answer may not contain age, gender, birthplace, family, likes, dislikes, talents, ethnicity, or name.  The question generates some deep contemplation.  Share with us your answers and I will share your answers with all of you.

For now, Earlynn’s Just Waitin’ to hear from YOU.

A Matter of Perception

Two different perceptions

Young Woman or Old Hag?

What you see when you look at the above picture is A Matter of Perception.  Some see a young woman while others see an old hag.  So it is with life, for the most part we see what we are looking for.  We have preconceived  ideas about our world and about our individual lives.  And when we staunchly believe in our perception we believe it to be a fact which does not allow for any other reality.

Taking this into account, let’s see what has happened in the past when society held fast to incorrect perceptions.  About 500 years ago Nicolas Copernicus looked into the sky and realized something quite different than what was believed to be true at that time.  Church scholars taught that the Earth was the center of the universe.  Copernicus came to the astonishing conclusion that the earth rotated on its axis daily as it orbited the sun annually.  At that time “truth” was considered to be that which the Church espoused.  The Church declared Copernicus guilty of blasphemy and they clung to their old beliefs.  Galileo ninety years later was forced at the point of a sword to renounce his support of Copernicus and spent the rest of his life as a prisoner.  These same Church leaders followed Copernicus’ mathematical formulas to reconcile their religious calendar.  The truth is that no matter how truthful a new perception is, it takes time for human consciousness to accept major changes.

Over 100 years have passed since Einstein proved that everything in our universe is made of energy and is intertwined.  Yet the vase majority of humanity still clings to the principles of Newtonian physics which says the world is a mechanism engaged in a series of cause and effect actions and reactions.

Humanity is now at a critical juncture.  Science is now showing  we are all connected.  We are all part of a web of life.  We can no longer persue survival of the fittest.  Survival of the most cooperative should be our motto.  We can no longer afford to persue our selfish interests on a personal level or on  a community level or on a world level.  As we have pursued Newtonian physics, we have  neglected nature believing Man should dominate and control the world.  Now we know we must live within the matrix of mother Earth seeking to keep a natural balance.  We are now experiencing what gluttony and pollution has brought to our world.

Our problems are not with the data.  We have tons of data.  Our problem has been with interpreting the data, it’s a matter of perception.  Rene’ Descates advised us to doubt everything.  Of course everything is not wrong, but now is the time for us to begin to reinterpret our data.  We need to see our problems in a new light.  We must be willing to open to new ways of thinking.   When we do so we will find ways to bring peace and balance.  We’ve all read or known someone who has been given a dire diagnosis but rather than giving up has gone into a complete remission.  Our world can be like that.  If we as human inhabitants on planet earth realize our future depends on cooperation we can heal our planet and create the major shift needed to create a new paradigm.  We can heal our planet.  That healing will come as a matter of changing perception.

The Power of Prayer

From time to time things happen in our daily life that enforce our belief in the power of prayer.  Such an event happened recently.  You see, my daughter’s family has a pet dog, Clyde.  Clyde is a house dog.  He lives with my daughter, Jenny, her husband Phil, and three kids: Denver, Easton, and Grace.  Clyde’s doggie door goes to the back yard, but Clyde is fascinated with the world he sees through the front door.  Everyone is careful when they open the front door because Clyde will sneak through the doorway and run out to the “big, wide world.”  Whenever Clyde escapes he is impossible to catch.   But within a couple hours he’ll get tired and come home.  One day last week when the family was leaving,  Clyde waited for the perfect moment then bounded through the open door.  Attempts to catch Clyde were useless.  Clyde was going to investigate the big, wide world no matter what.  So, the family left home knowing Clyde would be waiting for them when they got home.  This time, however, Clyde was not there when they got home.  When they went to bed that night they were still not concerned because they were sure he would come home during the night.  Next morning, they began to worry.  Jenny checked with animal control in both the city and county but Clyde was not there.  She posted a lost pet notice on a local web site in the hope of finding him.  Clyde is an adorable very affectionate Shitzu.  The family was afraid  someone might find and keep him.  As a  family they said a prayer that Clyde would be kept safe and would come home soon.  They prayed that if it was not God’s will for him to come home he would be in a loving place.   On the third night the children each asked to say their own prayer.  What can be sweeter, more pure, or filled with more faith than the prayer of a child?  The kids poured their hearts out in fervent prayer trusting that God would hear them.  Then they snuggled into their beds and went to sleep.  About an hour later as Jenny was preparing to go to bed, she received a text message.  It was a picture of Clyde with the question; “Is this your dog?”  Surprised, Jenny responded; “The picture looks like Clyde.  Is the dog wearing a collar?  The answer came back;  “I don’t know I only saw the picture.”  That’s odd, Jenny thought.  “What do you mean you only saw the picture?”  “Oh, I am with a group called UTAH LOST and FOUND PETS,”  she continued.  “We help find the owners of lost pets.   I just saw the listing of your lost pet and I think I found him at the county shelter.”  Needless to say, the kids were delighted.  They know the power of prayer  brought Clyde home.

We are very grateful there are people who volunteer for the sheer joy of reuniting pets with their families.  Thank you UTAH LOST and FOUND PETS.

Have you ever thought about the energy of positive words?  Recently I read a book written by Doreen Virtue and Grant Virtue, Angel Words – Visual Evidence of How Words Can Be Angels in Your Life.  Doreen was recording a pod cast with the help of her son, Grant.   Grant noticed that when Doreen spoke the word “angel”, the  recording graph appeared to depict angel wings.   This peaked their curiosity so they began experimenting with other words to see literal graphic representations and the energy of positive words.  They were amazed to find the energy of positive words was significantly “larger” than negative words.

The Energy of Positive Words

Above are only a few of the words Doreen and her son added to her book, Angel Words.  Quantum physics verifies everything in our world is energy vibrating at different speeds.   When we use positive words we are benefited by their energy as well as those around us.  Our words  can bring a ray of hope and light to our lives or they can be like a shovel digging you into darkness.  Pay attention to your words.  Use them to wisely.  Make a habit of using the energy of positive words to enhance your life and uplift those around you.  Your life will improve as a result.

Incredible Lessons

All can remember the horror we felt the morning of 9-11, 2001, but few know about  incredible lessons that came to light soon after that fateful day.   As you may know geostationary operational satellites (GOES) monitor the Earth’s magnetic-field strength in readings broadcast every thirty minutes.

On September 11, 2001, from a location of about 22,300 miles above the equator, GOES-8 detected a surge followed by an upward trend that topped out at nearly 50 units (nanoteslas) higher than any reading typical for the same time previously.  The GOES-10 also showed a powerful spike of the Earth’s magnetic field strength.  The time was 9 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, 15 minutes after the first plane hit the World Trade Center and about 15 minutes before the second impact.

The correlation between the events and the magnetic field readings was undeniable.  Because of this data two questions cried out for answers:  Were these magnetic field readings actually related to the attacks?  And if they were what was the link.  Studies by Princeton University and the Institute of HeartMath have found the correlation between these two events is more than a coincidence.  Further research showed similar magnetic field spikes during events of global focus in the past such as the death of Princess Diana.  The factor that seemed to connect the readings was the power of the human heart.

These incredible lessons showed us that heart-based emotions of the world’s population is capable of affecting our Earth’s magnetic field.   Those fields are now linked to everything from the stability of the climate to the peace between nations.

Two new discoveries now give greater meaning to what the satelites showed us on September 11, 2001.  First, the heart generates the strongest magnetic field in the body, 5,000 times stronger than the brain.  It creates a doughnut shaped pattern that extends five to eight feet from our bodies.  It is thought to be much larger (miles), but our measurements are limited by our equipment.  Second, Layers of the Earth’s atmosphere along with the Earth itself generate a “symphony of frequencies (between .01 and 300 hertz) some of which overlap the frequencies generated by the heart and brain.

In the words of The Institute of HeartMath researchers, “Regulating emotions is the next frontier in human evolution.”  For more information read Gregg Braden’s excellent book, Fractal Time. These Incredible lessons have opened the door to a new era of understanding our relationship with the Earth.

Water

How beautiful, nurishing and essential is water.  There is nothing softer, or more comforting than water and yet…..there is nothing more powerful or unrelenting as water.

Several years ago I read about a doctor who was imprisoned because of political unrest in his country.  He was imprisoned with many other political prisoners.  The prisoners were not fed properly or given medical treatment or medical supplies.  This brave doctor did his best to treat his comrades with his understanding of anatomy and the only medicine at his disposal….water.  He found he could successfully treat almost any medical condition using only water by changing the temperature and amount given at various times during treatment.  It is amazing what he accomplished.  It also points out the power of positive thoughts in creating the quality of our lives.

Some amazing studies have been done by Mr. Masaru Emoto.  His work is documented in his book, “The Message from Water”.  He has proven our thoughts affect everything in and around us.  Human vibrational energy affects the molecular structure of water.  Our bodies are like sponges composed of trillions of chambers (cells) that hold liquid.  The quality of our lives is directly correlated to the quality of our water.

Mr. Emoto has photographed water crystals.  The crystalline structures  from pure spring water  and Antarctic ice are beautiful geometric patterns.   Polluted water forms distorted, randomly formed crystalline structures.  Pictures  of polluted water after prayer show a return to beautifully formed geometric patterns.

Mr Emoto took distilled water and placed it between two speakers.   He played music for several hours.  The water was then frozen and pictures were taken.  The water crystals subjected to Beethoven’s Pastorale formed beautiful geometric patterns while the water subjected to heavy metal music formed jagged, random patterns.

Distilled water was placed in glass jars and left over night with computer generated messages or names of deceased persons taped to the bottles.  Again, the water was frozen and photographed.  The structures of the crystals with “Thank you” and “Love and appreciation” were stunningly beautiful.  The water with the message, “You make me sick, I will Kill You”  formed random,  deformed patterns.  The water labelled Mother Theresa formed a simple beautiful geometric structure while the water with the name Adolph Hitler generated dark random crystals.

Mr. Emoto’s work is awesome.  We can heal and transform ourselves and our world by the power of our thoughts and the way we put those thoughts into action.  Love and appreciation are not just pleasant thoughts.  They are powerful forces in the creation of our world.  Enjoy the pleasure of water, bless it, be thankful for it and see the hand of God in  it.
