You Become What You Think About

thinkking man

In 1902, at the age of 38, James Allen published a little book based on the aphorism, “As a man thinketh so is he.”  It’s a little book comprised of only seven chapters and about thirty nine pages.  I was given a copy about fourty years ago.  The lauguage is typical of vernacular used during the turn of the twentieth century, but the message is clear and just as relavent today as it was back then.  I carry a copy of the book in my purse wherever I go.  My first copy is falling apart from use.  I used a Sharpie to underscore especially poignant thoughts.   Before I realized it most of my book was marked.   As A Man Thinketh helped me realize the power of my own thoughts in creating my life.

James Allen states in the Forward of the book: “This little volume (the result of meditation and experience) is not intended, as an exhaustive treatise on the much-written-upon subject of the power of thought.  It is suggestive rather than explanatory, its object being to stimulate men and women to discover the perception of the truth that ‘They themselves are makers of themselves.’ by virtue of the thoughts which they choose and encourage; that mind is the master weaver, both of the innergarment of character and the outer garment of circumstance, and that, as they may have hitherto woven in ignorance and pain they may now weave in enlightenment and happiness.”

This little book of widsom has been available for over 100 years, but the messge is just as relevant today as it was in 1902.  You and I create our lives through our thoughts.  We now know that everything is vibrating energy including our thoughts.  Thoughts of love, peace and prosperity vibrate at a high frequency and attract more love, peace and prosperity.  On the other hand, low vibrating thoughts of hate, anger, fear and jealousy also attract more of the same.

Circumstance does not make a man, it reveals him to himself.  We do not attract what we want, but we do attract what we are.  We only begin to live productively when we cease to whine and revile against our lives and begin to search for the hidden justice which regulates our life.  Every thought or emotion has its own frequency.  When we finally realize we are attracting things into our lives by the frequencies we are  emitting, we begin to make progress.  We imagine that thoughts can be kept secret, but they cannot.  They control the circumstances of our lives and attract into our lives more of the same.

There are times when unwanted thoughts race through our minds. That’s part of the human condition.  But we need not make these thoughts welcome.  If you find yourself thinking non-productive or negative thoughts, the best way to free your mind is to become present – now.  Take your thoughts into your body…..focus on your breath.  Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.  Feel the air move through your body.  Feel the aliveness in your hands, your arms, your feet, and legs.  Touch something. Smell something.  Non productive thoughts keep you in either the past or the future.  Relief from those thoughts comes through being present now.  As much as possible learn to live in the present moment.  Everything that has happened did happen in a moment of NOW.  And everything that will happen will also happen in a moment of NOW.  So past and future are illusions.  When action is needed it will be taken in the present moment of now.

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’ “It is true, we become what we think about.  All that we achieve and all that we fail to achieve is the direct result of our own thoughts.”

THIS Flour is Definitely Not My Grandmother’s Flour

Amber Waves of Grain

“Oh, beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain.”  We have all sung those words and felt pride in our beautiful country.  But when was the last time, if ever,  you saw ‘amber waves of grain’?  In 1893 when Katherine Lee Bates wrote the words for America the Beautiful, four foot high amber waves of grain were seen all over America.  But today those four foot tall wheat stalks are no longer seen.  The story of what happened to America’s Amber waves of grain is intriguing.

In 1943 the International Maize and  Wheat Improvement Center (IMWIC) met in a location east of Mexico City at the foot of the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountains.   In collaberation with the Rockerfeller Foundation, the Mexican government intended to help Mexico achieve agricultural self-sufficiency.  This effort grew into an impressive worldwide effort to increase the yield of corn, soy and wheat with the goal of reducing world hunger.  Mexico proved to be the ideal location for such a project as the climate allows two growing periods per year.    This shortened the time required for hybridizing in half as compared to other locations.  The United States produced enough crops to meet demand, but many other nations worldwide were unable to feed their populations, resulting in widespread hunger.

The IMWIC found that when they treated wheat fields with large quantities of nitrogen-rich fertilizer, it produced huge seed heads which caused the wheat stalks to buckle under the weight.  Buckling killed the plants and made harvesting difficult.  Geneticist Norman Borlaug, a University of Minnesota graduate, working at the IMWIC developed an exceptionally high-yielding dwarf wheat that was shorter and stockier allowing the wheat to remain erect and resistant to buckling.  This wheat matures more quickly which means a shorter growing season with less fertilizer used.

Dr. Borlaug earned the title of “Father of the Green Revolution” in the agricultural community.  He also recieved the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal as well as the Nobel Peace Prize.  His high-yield dwarf wheat did help solve world hunger.  The wheat crop in China increased eightfold from 1961 to 1999.

By 1980 the efforts of IMWIC had produced thousands of new strains of wheat.  The most high-yielding, desease resistant strains of wheat have since been adopted worldwide.  Today dwarf and semi-dwarf wheat comprises more than 99 persent of all wheat grown worldwide.

In his book,  Loose the Wheat, Loose the Weight, Dr. William Davis, MD writes; “The peculiar oversight in the flurry of breeding activity, such as that conducted at IMWIC, was that, despite dramatic changes in the genetic makeup of wheat and other crops, no animal or human safety testing was conducted on the new genetic strains that were created.  So intent were the efforts to increase yield, so confident were plant geneticists that hybridation yielded safe products for human consumption, so urgent was the cause of world hunger, that these products of agricultural research were released into the food supply without human safety concerns being part of the equation.

It was simply assumed that because hybridization and breeding efforts yielded plants that remained essentially “wheat”, new strains would be perfectly well tolerated by the comsuming public.  Agricultural scientists, in fact, scoff at the idea that hybridization has the potential to generate hybrids that are unhealthy for humans.  After all, hybridization techniques have been used albiet in cruder form, in crops, animals, even humans for centuries.  Take two varieties of tomatoes, you still get tomatoes, right?  What’s the problem?  The question of animal or human safety testing is never raised.  With wheat, it was likewise assumed that variations in gluten and structure, and modifications of other enzymes and proteins, the qualities that confer susceptibility or resistance to various plant diseases, would all make their way to humans without consequence.”

However, research findings of agricultural geneticists show these assumptions may be unfounded and just plain wrong.  This new wheat flour is not the flour your grandmother used to make her delicious muffins.  Below are some of the findings about the difference in grandmother’s wheat and the wheat now sold on your grocer’s shelves.

This new wheat is a supercarbohydrate.  The modern Cinnabon, French crullers or Duncan Donuts were not possible with your grandmother’s flour.  The new flour is 70% carbohydrate by weight with protein comprising only 10 to 15%.  The remaining weight is fat.  Grandmothers’ flour contained 28% more protein.

In 1981 a University of Toronto study launched the Glycemic Index. This index shows the blood sugar effects of carbohydrates.  The higher the blood sugar after consuming a specific food the higher the Glycemic Index or GI.   The GI is especially important for diabetics in determining which foods to eat to keep their blood sugar levels under control.  This study showed that the GI content of white bread was 67, while the whole grain bread was 72.  Table sugar was only 59.  The GI of whole grain is HIGHER that sucrose!  And the GI of a Mars bar – nougat, chocolate, sugar, caramel, and all is 68 and a Snickers bar is 41!

Candy bars

The GI shows that wheat products whether white or whole grain elevate blood sugar more than any other carbohydrate from beans to candy bars.  Yet the USDA still recommends  eating more “healthy” whole grains.  To quote from Dr. Wm. Davis’: “Studies conducted during the eighties and since have shown that, when processed white flour products are replaced with whole grain flour products, there is a reduction in colon cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.  That is indeed true and indisputable.  According to accepted dietary wisdom, if something that is bad for you (white flour) is replaced by something less bad (whole wheat), then lots of that less-bad thing must be great for you.  By that logic, if high-tar cigarettes are bad for you and low-tar cigarettes are less bad, then lots of low-tar cigarettes should be good for you.  An imperfect analogy, perhaps, but it illustrates the flawed rationale used to justify the proliferation of grains in our diet.  Throw into the mix the fact that wheat has undergone extensive agricultural genetics-engineered changes , and you have devised the formula for creating a nation of fat people.”

Because this new flour is so readilly converted into sugar in the blood stream a blood sugar high lasting about 120 minutes is experienced after consumption.  The problem is the high is followed by the low of the glucose drop.  This surge and drop creates a roller coaster ride of satiety and hunger that repeats itself through the day.  The higher the blood glucose after consumption of food, the greater the insulin level and the more fat is stored in the body.

One of the worst problems with this new wheat is the gluten.  While only 10 to 15%  of the wheat is protein, 80% of that protein is gluten.  Gluten is the part of wheat that transforms dough into bagels, pizza and bread.  Without the gluten yeast would not have the ability to raise the dough.  Hybridization efforts of the past fifty years have generated numerous changes in gluten-coding genes, mostly powerful modifications of the D genome that confer baking and aesthetic characteristics on flour.  These genes located in the D genome are those most frequently pinpointed as the source of glutens that trigger celiac desease.   It is important to know that changes in the characteristics of gluten by plant geneticists are responsible for many of the odd health phenomena experienced by consuming humans.

This new wheat gluten when broken down by the enzymes and acid found in the stomach  is degraded to a mix of polypeptides.  These polypeptides  share the same effects as opiates in their  ability to cross through the blood-brain barrier.  The brain is highly sensitive to the wide variety of substances that gain entry to the blood.  The blood-brain barrier protects the brain from undesirable effects of these substances.  Once wheat polypeptides gain entry to the brain. they bind to the brain’s morphine receptor, the same receptor to which opiate drugs bind.

Dr. William Davis writes: “So this is your brain on wheat;  digestion yields morphine-like compounds that bind to the brain’s opiate receptors.  It induces a form of reward, a mild euphoria.  When the effect is blocked or no exorphin-yielding foods are consumed, some people experience a distinctly unpleasant withdrawal.”  He went on further to say:  “Wheat, in fact nearly stands alone as a food with potent central nervous system effects.  Outside of intoxicants such as ethanol (like that in your favorite merlot or chardonnay), wheat is one of the few foods that can alter behavior, induce pleasurable effects, and generate a withdrawal syndrome upon its removal.”  In effect, wheat is an appetite stimulant.  It makes you want more cookies, and  cupcakes, and more  pretzels, candy, soft drinks, muffins, tacos, submarine sandwiches, pizza and on and on.

If we look at history it is easy to see that the ranks of overweight or obese Americans has  excellerated, especially since the the 1960s.  But the real upward trend began in the mid eighties.  The rate of obesity has tripled over the past fifty years.  The CDC now states 34% of adults are overweight and another 34% are obese leaving slightly less than one in three at a normal weight.

The cornerstone of all nutritional directives is “Eat more healthy whole grains.”  Go into your local supermarket.  You will see that vegetables, meats, dairy and fruit tend to be at the perimiter of an explosion of processed grain-based foods full of fructose corn syrup, wheat flour, cornstarch, sucrose and food coloring.  Kraft alone now generates $48.1 billion in annual revenues an 1800% increase since the late 1980s.  The situation for the food industry has been made even better by the US government’s glowing endorsement urging Americans to eat more “healthy whole grains.”  All the while diabetes, celiac desease and obesity continue to grow.

I have barely scratched the surface of the information contained in Loose the Wheat, Loose the Weight.  Dr. Davis’ book is fascinating.  If you are in the two thirds of Americans who have a weight problem, his book offers some fascinating insights into what seems to be a big part of the problem.  He offers case studies of many who have eliminated wheat and gluten from their diets with amazing results.  In any case, Loose the Wheat, Loose the  Weight is a book I highly recommend.

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’; “It’s true, the wheat flour we are now eating is definitely not grandma’s flour.”

Pinecones! Now Tell Me The Truth.

pinecones 2

Those who know me best are aware that one of my favorite things is pinecones.  I just love them.  I have been collecting them for many years.  I have big cones, little cones, red cones, brown cones, and even some black cones.  I have giant cones, miniature cones, stiff cones, and soft cones.  I think pinecones are like beautiful wooden roses.  I have boxes of cones.  I began  collecting fourty years ago.  Kermit and I have moved two times within that fourty year span.  And each time we moved, my pinecone collection got  bigger.  When I see beautiful pinecones, I always pick them up.  My family loves teasing me about my pinecone collection.   They  joked about the posibility of ‘loosing them’ each time we moved.

The last time we moved was about twenty years ago.  In jest, I wrote a warning sign on biggest box of pinecones; “Don’t even think about loosing these pinecones.”  My sons (5 of them including boy friend and sons in law) worked  tirelessly helping with the move.  Moving is  hard work and these boys were superstars.  They were lifting and moving heavy furniture, stacking boxes, and protecting our prescious cargo ….. all the while enjoying one another’s company and making the experience quite fun.  After the large rented moving van was filled, a couple of pickup trucks carried our additional ‘stuff’.  As it happened my pinecone collection didn’t fit into the moving van so it was loaded into one of the pickups.  My ‘warning note’ was clearly visible as the boys  secured the box using bungee cords and ropes.  My final words before the truck left was; “Make sure you take good care of my pinecones.”  The boys laughed and off they we went.

We moved before the construction of our new home was completed, so all but our clothing and  personal essentials were unloaded into a large storage unit.  Later that evening I could sense the boys had something to tell me, but were reluctant.  So, after a bit of prodding, the tale was told of the demise of my precious pinecone collection.  As the boys recounted the dreadful event, they were laughing so hard tears were streaming down their cheeks and they could hardly speak more than a few garbeled words without breaking  into uproarious laughter. As the story went, the boys were following one another, when suddenly the bungee cord securing my beloved pinecones snapped.   Then with a swoosh the wind caught the box and threw it high into the air like a tennis ball waiting for a serve.  An unsuspecting motorist hit the box like a swift racquet.  That box literally exploded like a huge firecracker as pinecones flew in all directions onto the freeway, pelting vehicles  which immediately squashed them flat, leaving nothing to be salvaged.  That was twenty years ago and to this day, the mention of my pinecones brings raucous laughter to any family gathering.

PineconesWho is to blame?  No one!  Life unfolds perfectly.  As it is our family has a precious memory we could never have envisioned.

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’;  Life does unfold perfectly.  A powerful prayer is; “God grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can change; and the wisdom to know the difference.”

A Truly Inspiring Anthem

star-spangled-banner

Yesterday as  the opening ceremonies began for Super Bowl XLVIII, I watched and listened to an inspiring rendition of The Star Spangeled Banner sung by a truly gifted opera star, Renee Fleming.  She sang the anthem with the conviction of a patriot.  Many times we hear someone sing the anthem as a memorized script, but Renee Fleming sang it with true emotion that brought tears of pride.

Her performance made me think of the meaning in those words and why that song is our National Anthem.  The lyrics were penned by Francis Scott Key, an attorney from Georgetown.  It was written about the Brittish Shelling of Fort McHenry in preparation to demolish Baltimore during the war of 1812.  The colonies were in a protracted war with the Brittish.  Francis Scott Key was sent by the colonies to negotiate a prisoner exchange.  Many American prisoners were being held in chains and filthy conditions in the cargo holds of Brittish ships about 1,000 feet off shore.  Francis Scott Key was delighted to have reached a settlement for a one to one prisoner exchange.  He was allowed to go below to give the good news to the prisoners.

As he returned to the top deck he was informed that there was a slight problem.  The Brittish Admiral said that they would definitely honor the negotiated exchange, but the release would be merely academic after tonight because the war would be over after tonight.  The Brittish war fleet would arrive in a couple of hours with orders  to shell Fort McHenry……to totally wipe it off the face of the earth.    Francis Scott Key told the Admiral that Fort McHenry was not primarily a military fort, but was full of women and children.  The Admiral told him not to worry because the Brittish have left a way out for Fort McHenry.  All they need to do is lower the flag which was visible above the rampart and the shelling would cease immediately.  The Brittish would accept their surrender and Fort Mc Henry would then be under Brittish rule and the prisoners would be released.

Francis Scott Key went down below and told the men what was about to happen.  “How many ships?”, the men asked.  “Hundreds”, was  Key’s response.  He promised the men he would watch the shelling from the deck and would shout down to the men as he watched.  As twilight began to fall the haze hung over the ocean as it does at sunset, when suddenly the Brittish war ships unleashed.  The sound was deafening and it was impossible to talk or hear anything else.  The sky, although dark was suddenly lit by explosions.  From down below, he could hear the men…..”Tell us where the flag is.”….”What have they done with the flag?”…..”Is the flag still flying over the rampart?”….”Tell us…..”

As time passed, 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, everytime a bomb would explode close to the flag, he could see the flag illuminated in the red glare and Key would shout to the men…..”It’s still up!”  The Brittish Admiral querried, “What’s the matter with them….don’t they know this is an impossible situation?”  Key’s response was a quote from General George Washington; “The thing that sets the American Christian apart from all other people in the world is he would rather die on his feet before he’ll live on his knees.”

Brittish reconneaissance reported the flag had been hit directly again and again, yet it was still flying.  The shelling continued unmercifully.  Key could hear the men below praying; “God, keep that flag flying where we last saw it.”    As sunrise came there was a heavy mist hanging over the land.  The rampart stood tall and there hung the flag in shreds.  The flagpole itself was at a crazy angle, but the nondescript shredded flag was still at the top.

Key rushed to Fort McHenry to see what had happened.  That flag and flagpole had suffered repetitious direct hits.  And when it had fallen, men and fathers who knew what it meant for that flag to be on the ground walked over and held it up until they died.  Their bodies were removed and others took their place.  What held that flagpole in place at that unusual angle were patriot’s bodies.  The debt was demanded…..The price was paid.  Francis Scott Key sat down and wrote these words:

“Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming.

Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,

O’re the ramparts we wached were so gallently streaming.

And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star spangeled banner yet wave,

O’re the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

frances scott key

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’:  “Let us never forget the price paid for our freedom.  Everytime we hear our National Anthem, let us say a prayer of thanks for the patriots who made the ‘American Way’ possible.”

Below is a link to hear a beautiful rendition of the Star Spangeled banner by Whitney Houston.

Communication is the Goal, Isn’t It?

The definition of communication is; “The exchange of information between people, e.g. by means of speaking, writing, or using a common system of signs and behavior”.  Since communication is an “exchange”, it requires both a listener and a commenter.  Effective communication requires:

1.  The listener must understand the intent of the commenter.

2.  The context in which any comment is made must be understood.

3.  The words used in any comment are less important than the intent and the context.

4.  A comment made in one situation is not necessarily valid in a different situation.

If we are to communicate with one another and really understand one another, these four rules apply.  Often we see misunderstandings occur when these four rules are not applied.  This is why “politically correct” is so ‘Incorrect’!  We see good people torn apart by the media because their comments are taken out of context and their intent is misrepresented entirely.  Many in the  media are so eager to pass judgment they totally disregard intent and context.  They seem to be interested only in sensationalism.  They are definitely not interested in true communication of ideas.

From time to time we are all guilty of rushing to judgement.  We don’t take time to examine the facts before we label someone or something.  When we put a label on someone or something  we stop examining the facts  because we assume we know all there is to know.   Soren Kierkegaard said; “Once you label me you negate me.”

How many times have you met someone and made a quick judgment of him/her only to realize  later you were completely wrong?  This world would be a much nicer place if we  learned to hold our judgments and remain open-minded.  The following story illustrates this point.

cookies

The Cookie Thief

A woman was waiting at the airport one night,

With several hours before her flight.

She hunted for a book at the airport shop,

Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop.

She was engrossed in her book, but happened to see,

That the man beside her, as bold as could be,

Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag between,

Which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene.

She read, munched cookies, and watched the clock,

As the gutsy “cookie thief” diminished her stock.

She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by,

Thinking, “If I wasn’t so nice, I’d blacken his eye!”

With each cookie she took, he took one or two,

When only one was left, she wondered what he’d do.

With a smile on his face and a nervous laugh,

He took the last cookie and broke it in half.

He offered her half, and he ate the other.

She snatched it from him and thought,

“Oh brother. this guy has some nerve and he’s also so rude,

Why he didn’t even show any gratitude.”

She had never known when she had been fo galled,

And sighed with relief when her flight was called.

She gathered her belongings and headed for the gate,

Refusing to look at the “theiving ingrate”.

She boarded the plane and sank in her seat.

Then sought her book which was almost complete.

As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise,

There was her bag of cookies in front of her eyes.

“If mine are here” she moaned with dispair,

“Then the others were his and he tried to share”.

Too late to apologize, she realized with grief,

That she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief!

For now, Earlynns just sayin’; “Let’s not rush to judge others when we do not know the whole story behind their actions.”

Global Warming Is Real, Part 2

The other day I had a  spirited discussion with one of my best friends.  The discussion was about the truth of global warming.   My friend believes  it will be impossible to get the cooperation needed to put an end to the use of fossil fuels and the polution they cause if the truth of global warming is known.  She believes people will act only if they believe they must act or be destroyed by global warming.

It is my belief that people will act in the best interest of all only when they do understand the truth.  The truth is Global warming is a natural 100,000 year cycle that  cannot be corrected through  legislation, fines, or regulations.   We could totally clean up man-made co2 polution and it would not stop global warming.

Man-made co2 polution is a BIG problem.  It affects  our health,  the air we breathe, earth’s plant life,  animal life, our monuments, our oceans and aquatic species.  The list could go on and on.  Polution affects you and me every day of our lives.  It is an issue that can be aided through legislation and regulations,  and is a seperate issue from global warming.   Global warming is a fact  we need to deal with  as a natural cycle that cannot be legislated.  We must get about the business of  mitigating  its disasterous affects.  We should be looking for ways to help those living in areas  most impacted by rising sea levels, drought, desalinization of sea water, and a myriad of other problems caused by gobal warming.

raadhuset-copenhagen-

A illlustration of what happens when we are not educated about the truth of global warming is the 2010  Copenhagen Climate Summit.  Present at the meetings were presidents, prime minisers, kings, queens and dictators (rather than their representatives).  Hopes were high that these world leaders could address a problem that transcends our differences of politics and policy.  What happened instead according to Nicolas Stern, chair of the Grantham Research Institute of Climate Change and Environment was disappointing due  at least in part, to the attitude of the wealthier nations.

Apparently the wealthier nations did not understand the mind-set and the problems of some of the poorer nations who had experienced thousands of deaths and billions of dollars in economic losses due to climate change.   Many observers  indicated the wealthier countries apparently did not due their homework.  There was a lot of finger pointing about which country was most at fault and who should pay the most to address climate change.

The failure of the Copenhagen Summit was an indication of a world  based on false assumptions of science.   Namely that nature is based upon “survival of the fittest”, global warming is caused by man-made polution,  the only thing that matters is matter,  everything is seperate from everything else,  cousciousness is seperate from our physical world, and advanced civilization dates back only 5,000 years.

If our leaders had understood;

1.  Global warming and cooling  are natural cycles  based on earth’s rotation through the universe and its proximity to the sun.

2.  Advanced civilizations prior to the 5,000 years of recorded human history have survived similar global warming and cooling cycles.

3.   Because we are all connected, whatever  affects one of us affects all of us.

4.  Survival of the most cooperative is and always has been the way our world thrives.

The summit in Copenhagen was a missed opportunity.  If all present had understood the new science it could have  led to a radically different outcome.  It is clear  we must shift our attitudes and  basic assumptions if we are to find effective solutions for global warming.

Polution is a problem that needs to be seperated from global warming.   It is a crisis over which we have a lot of control.  We are earth’s care givers and in many ways we are not making wise decisions.  Corrections can be made.  Individually we can make small choices that will add up to major advancements in polution control.

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’; “I believe the scripture in John 8 vs 32 that reads…’And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free’ “.

Global Warming is REAL

Yes, Global Warming is real.  It is a fact.  Who is responsible?  No one on this earth.   Nothing we human beings have done has caused Global Warming.  And the evidence for this is found in the ice of Antarctica.  Scientists have successfully drilled to the bottom of the Ice at Lake Vostok.  We now have 420,000 years of data on Earth’s history.  So we can  compare what is happening now with that 420,000 years of data.

ice core drilling

Lake Vostok

Above is a a radar satellite image of Lake Vostok, the largest of almost 400 such fresh water lakes found 2 miles under the ice in Antarctica.  Lake Vostok is approximately 31 miles wide by 155 miles long.

The infomation gained from the ice cores tells us the real story of Global Warming.  The Ice cores show there is a clear relationship between higher co2 levels and higher temperatures.  In fact, the data shows co2 increases lag higher temperatures by about 800 years.  The data also shows clear 100,000 year cycles.  We know that mankind has contributed to co2 levels at least for the past 150 years, but what about the data showing 100,000 year cycles when mankind was not contributing to co2 levels? As we look at the data shown in the graph below, we must come to the conclusion that global warming is part of a completely natural cycle.

Co2 and temperatures over 420,000 years

Obviously, we cannot legislate a cure for Global Warming since it is a natural cycle, so what should we be doing about it?  Of course, we need to take better care of our Earth.   We should do what we can do to minimize polution.   And we should be educating society about the larger rhythms of nature.  We need to understand Earth’s orbit through space is rhythmic.   The rhythm of heating and cooling of our planet is natural.   There are cycles within cycles and they are based on something that is predictable.  It’s all about Earth’s relationship to the sun, our location in space, Earth’s tilt and wobble and our position relative to the core of the Milkey Way.   All nations should be working together to help nations most affected by Global Warming survive the disasterous affects.  We need to stop pointing fingers at one another, roll up our sleeves, and get real about Earth’s survival.

The next time you hear a politician complaining about who is at fault for global warming, direct him/her to the facts and ask what he/she proposes to do to help those directly affected.

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin; “When we gain a better understanding of how natural rhythms affect our climate we are better prepared to do the right thing.”

What is Truth? Part 2

quantum physicsIn my last blog, I listed five old scientific truths which have now become assumptions that have been proven to be false.  As I understand the scientific premise, a true scientist will always examine the facts relating to an hypothesis.  A true scientist does not try to prove anything is right or wrong, because the scientist wants to discover the truth.   So, when an old truth is shown to be false, a true scientist embraces the new truth.  In so doing the way is opened for even newer truths to emege.  With this premise in mind it is difficult to understnd the reluctance of mainstream science to embrace the new truth.  It is very frustrating that these new truths are not being taught in our schools.  The five scientific assumptions which have now been proven false are:

#1 – Evoilution explains human life.

#2 – Advanced civilization on earth is 5,000 years old, is linear and has happened only once.

#3 – Consciousness is seperate from our physical world.

#4 – Everything is empty between you and me and the only thing that matters is matter.

#5 – Nature is based on survival of the strongest.

Peer reviewed Scientific evidence published in prestigious journals show that Assumptions #1 and #5 are false.  Now, I’d like to show that Assumptions #2, #3, and #4 are also false.

Our schools teach that the oldest advanced civiliazations on earth date back 5,000 years.  The truth is archeologists are uncovering advanced sites much older than that.  It is now believed that the advanced astrology, architecture, agriculture and mathmetics of the Myans was passed on by civilizations which ended in the prior World Age.

The oldest site discovered in America is Caral in Northern Peru. It is believed to be 7,000 years old but ended about 5,000 years ago.  This huge site has five pyramids and had advanced knowledge of astronomy, mathematics, architechture and agriculture.  The site shows no evidence of weaponry or warfare.  It has no protective walls or motes and shows no signs of needing to protect itself.   There are no mass graves or mutilated skeletons.  These findings have been published in peer reviewed archeological journals, but since the information does not fit the model being taught, they are dismissed as anomalies.  This might be acceptable if the anomalies were rare, but that it not the case.  When there are many “anomalies”…..they can no longer be anomalies.

So far the oldest site found is Gobekli Tepe, Turkey.  The site has been fully documented by the Smithsonian Institution and is thought to be between 11,370 to 11,560 years old.   This incredible site has fifteen to twenty circular ceremonial sites which can be seen by infared cameras.  Only about four of these ceremonial sites have been unearthed so far.  For a yet unknown reason, the site was intentionally burried about 8,000 years ago keeping the site very well preserved.  The Smithsonian has many beautiful pictures of the site.  You will find a link to the Smithsonian’s web site with information about Gobekli Tepe below my blog.  Take time to visit the web site.  You will find it fascinating.

Off the coast of India is a site five miles long and two miles wide under 120 feet of water.  Other sites are being found in areas affected by rising sea levels after 4,000 years of storms ended the last Ice Age about 12,000 tears ago.

Evidence of these sites has been peer reviewed and published, yet mainstream science and our schools are not teaching this history.  What is currently being taught is the history of the most recent 5000 year World Age which ended in December, 2012.  Advanced civilizations did exist prior to this past 5,000 year World Age.  And they existed during the 5,000 year World Age prior to that.  So, we can say that Scientific Assumption #2 is no longer a truth.

It is said;  “Life’s longest journey is 18 inches,” (the distance from the center of the thinking mind to the intellegence found in our hearts).  Science is now beginning to study and understand the connection of our hearts to our physical world.  The world is filled with vibrating electrical and magnetic fields.  Quantum physics shows there is no empty space.   Doesn’t it make sense that we must learn to communicate with these fields?  When you and I were in school we were taught that our brain and thinking was the most important factor in achieving a successful life.  But do you know that your heart has an electrical field 100 times stronger than your brain?  And do you know your heart has a magnetic field that is 1,000 times stronger than your brain?  This is why it is so difficult to think our way out of so many of life’s problems both personal and social.  Eastern cultures, native indians and aborigines have recognized the power of their hearts to guide them to live successfully.  The heart is the first organ to form in our bodies.  It forms before our brain.  And hearts are designed to “feel” our way.  The incredible power of the human heart was shown undeniably to the scientific community on 9-11-2001.

Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) orbit the earth at about 23,000 miles above earth.  They relay vital informtion about the strength of earth’s magnetic field every thirty minutes 24/7.  On September 11, 2001, the GOES – 8, and the GOES – 10, each relayed a powerful spike in the magnetic field strength at about 9:00 A.M. EST.  This was about fifteen minutes after the first plane hit the World Trade Center and about fifteen minutes before the second plane hit the tower.  The timing of the spikes  were so simultaneous that it could not be denied they were related to those despicable acts of terrorism.  The question that begged to be answered was how were these spikes related to these acts of terrorism.  It took Princeton University and the Institute of Heart Math to find the correlation.  As they studied the GOES transmissions, they found there had been several similar spikes although not as strong that happened previously at times such as the death of Princess Dianna.

These spikes led to studies proving the incredible power of human hearts to affect the world around us.  Gregg Braden in his book, Fractal Time  states; “Specifically, it’s the heart-based emotion of the world’s population that results from such events that seems to be influencing the magnetic fields of the earth.  What makes this discovery so significant is that those fields are now linked to everything from the stability of the clilmate to peace between nations.”

This information spawned The Global Coherence Initiative.  Coherent hearts  resonate at 1.03 Hz which correlates with earth’s magnetic field.  It is believed when many of us focus simultaneously on peace, love and harmony with coherent hearts, we can affect earth’s magnetic fields and enhance the well being of all.  It is interesting to note that you cannot think your heart into coherence.  You must feel your heart into coherence which is something we in the Western world are not used to doing.  A small hand held instrument, the emWave, can detect when your heart is in coherence.  After you feel your coherent heart,  you can feel your heart into coherence again and again.  For more information about the Institute of Heart Math, go to www.heartmath.org.  You can connect with the Global Coherence Initiative at www.globalcoherence.com.

Science knows advanced civilizations have existed on earth for at least 12,000 years which is over two times the 5,000 years being taught in our schools.  Science also knows our consciousness is connected to our world and there are no empty spaces.  The world is filled with magnetic and electrical vibrations.  That makes assumptions #2, #3, and #4 false.

As a society we have an obligation to make sure our chldren are given every chance to benefit from the newest scientific truths.  Soon enough our children will be the leaders of our society.  How can we expect them to lead in wisdom if they are handicapped because they have been taught false science.  Galileo was held under house arrest because he said the earth is round.  He lived from 1564 until 1642……we are now in the year 2014.  Honestly, its the same mentality that refuses to accept new truths!  Will we ever learn?

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’; “Let’s see to it that our children have every advantage science can provide them.  Spirituality and science are melding…..what a great time to live here on earth.”

What is Truth?

A colleague of Einstein, Niels Bohr, a Danish physicist said; “It is the hallmark of any deep truth that its negation is also a deep truth.”  Science as we now know it is based on deep truths that have been accepted in many cases for up to 300 years.   As a society we have a problem when it comes to discoveries that negate old truths.  These new truths are very often ignored by mainstream science and are not being taught by our schools.

Now is a time when the best minds believe we are living a perfect storm.  The Scientific American has stated that never has there been a time in the past 5,000 years when so many crisises have converged upon mankind at once.  They further stated that earth is entering a bottleneck in time when our resources and our ability will be pushed to our limits.  Einstein said you can never solve a problem using the same thought that created the problem in the first place.  So when scientific information is verified, peer reviewed and printed in prestigeous journals yet our school books are not updated and the new deep truths are not taught in our schools we have a problem.  Instead of creating new thought to solve our problems, we are continuing to use old thoughts and wondering why we’re getting the same old results.  That’s the deinitiion of insanity….to keep doing the same things over and over and expecting different results.

Prior to the emergence of modern science, the deep questions about who we are and why we are here were answered through religion.  When science split from religion, consciousness was written out of the scientific equasion.

Science must be honest and new discoveries must be taught if humanity is to prosper and solve the great problems before us now.  According to Gregg Braden in his book, DEEP TRUTHS, there are five major scientific assumptions which have been scientifically proved to be false.   Yet the scientific community and our school curriculums steadfastly refuse to accept these findings.  These are five major assumptions which are now proven to be false.:

1 – Evolution explains human life.

2 – Advanced civilization is 5,000 years old, is linear and happened only once.

3 – Consciousness is seperate from our physical world.

4 – There is nothing but empty space between me and you.  And the only thing that matters is matter.

5 – Nature is based on survival of the strongest.

Since 1859 when Darwin published his book, THE ORIGIN OF THE SPECIES BY MEANS OF NATURAL SELECTION, students have been taught that life is random including human life.  We are seperate and have no power over our bodies.  We are all seperate and individual.  Darwin was the first to publish a scientific book attempting to explain the origin of man.  His book was  immediately accepted, deeply entrenched and embraced worldwide.   Based on Drwin’s theories, it is no wonder our world is in turmoil. Greg Braden suggests that the problem with Darwin’s theory is that Darwin went to one place to study insects and animal life.  He then generalized what he observed to all forms of life including humans.  Darwin stated about his theory of the origin of life; “Therefore, I should infer from analogy that probably all organic beings which have ever lived on this earth have decended from some one primordial form into which life was first breathed.”

One theory that Darwin thought might be problematic is the theory called the Big Bang of Biology or the Cambrian Explosion.  This theory states that about 98% of all present day organisms exploded from single cell organisms during a 70 million year timeframe which scientifically is a relatively short period of time.

When I went to school, I was taught I was a decendant of the Neanderthal Man.  This is still being taught in school.  However, in 1987 an infant girl was found perfectly preserved in ice in a cave in Northern Europe.  This baby was perectly preserved, her full body was intact including her eyes, her hair and skin but most importantly her DNA.  It took three years to get the results of the DNA testing.  The results were published in the prestigeous Journal of Nature, Volume 404, page 490, on March 30, 2000.  This is the last sentence of the article that was published; “The DNA in that Neanderthal girl was not, in fact, a part of us.  The results suggest that modern human was not decended from Neanderthal.  Their DNA and our DNA are not similar enough to say that they are ancestors.”

Since that time they have found 40 more bodies and their DNA bears this out.  Further study indicates we walked the earth with Neanderthal.  We shared the earth with them but did not decend from them.  In 1868, in France the fossilized remains of a Homo Sapien were found and named Cro-Magnon.  Cro-Magnon is now called Modern Human.  Modern Human is 200,000 years old.  Anatomically there is no difference between the fossilized Cro-Magnon and us, except his thigh bone is a bit thicker, probably because he walked a lot.  This information has been verified and proven, but is not being taught in our schools.  It should be taught.  It shoud be shared.   So, the missing link is still THE MISSING LINK.  We are our own species.  DNA  studies and especially studies of Chromosome 2 genes show that DNA could not be formed through natural processes.  DNA makes us human with our special characteristics and traits.  We appeared on earth 200,000 years ago.

Darwin also stated; “If it can be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications my theory would absolutely break down.”

Evollution does not explain human life.  But evolution, according to Gregg Braden is a fact. It is proven through fossil remains of other organisms.  Another interesting quote from Darwin states; “It may not be a logical deduction but to my imagination it is for more satisfactory to look at instincts such as young birds ejecting foster brothers from their nests.  Ants making slaves of other ants.  These are small consequences of one general law leading to the advancement of all beings.  The law is this multiply….Let the strongest live.  Let the weakest die.”

What a dangerous way of thinking.  Since 1859, this way of thinking has brought us to this point in human history.  If ever there was a definition of corporate greed it is embodied in the “survival of the fittest”.  They care only for money and nothing for people.  There are over 400 peer reviewed studies showing that survival is based on cooperation.  The more we study nature, the more we understand success is based on cooperation.  Nature is based on mutual aid and cooperation.

Science has shown us that we, Homo Sapiens, appeared on earth 200,000 years ago as complete and whole modern humans.  Cooperation and mutual aid is the way to prosper.  If we are really looking for answers to earth’s problems, why is this information not shared and taught to our children?  We need to understand these deep truths to find answers to earths chaotic problems.

Assumption #1 and #5 are false.  In my next blog I’ll discuss why Assumptions #2, #3, and #4 are also false.

For now Earlynn’s just sayin’; ” The scriptures tell us in John 8, vs 32,   YE SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE  We need to make sure our schools teach the deep truth as we have come to know it.”Cro-Magnon

Music, Music, Music

Music is so entwined with our lives, it is hard to imagine life without it.  Music can soothe our troubled mind.  It can get us up and hopping, eager to tackle the task at hand.  It can make us laugh or make us cry.  It can inspire us to be better people.

We all learned the scale…..DO, RA, ME, FA, SO, LA, TI, DO, and back down again…..DO, TE, LA, SO, FA, ME, RA, DO.  I can hear Julie Andrews singing it.  But did you know the scale we have learned is not the scale the ancients used?  This is patially due to the way musical instruments are now tuned but largely it is because after the death of Pope Johannes in May, 526, the Church significantly altered the scale and added “Si” which later became “Ti” in his honor.

The original scale now known as the Solfeggio Scale has six notes……………………………..  UT, RE, MI, FA, SOL, LA.  When listening to the sound of the Solfeggio scale, the current scale sounds harsh in comparison.  The Solfeggio Scale sounds pure and smoothe.  This  scale has mathematic resonance and its frequencies are capable of spiritually inspiring mankind.  The change weakened the impact of Church hymns.  You see, music is not just for the ears…..it is for the soul.

The exciting thing about the Solfeggio scale is it is now being used by biochemists  to repair DNA.  The frequency of the Selfeggio note “C” is 528 Hz.  “C” corresponds to “MI” in the middle of the scale and dirived its name from the phrase “MI-ra gestorum” in Latin meaning “miracle.”  528 Hz is the frequency of our sun, and is the frequency of green which is the primary color of Mother Earth.  Our planet vibrates to the frequency of love.  Green is the color of our heart Chakra and is in the middle of every rainbow.  However, when you play a “C” note on your piano at home, it resonates at only 512 Hz because our instruments are not tuned to the Solfeggio scale.  There are many who are now trying to restore the Solfeggio scale not only because of the beauty of its pure notes, but because of its ability to heal and soothe mankind.  These are the frequencies of the Solfeggio Scale and their benefits:

UT – 396 HZ – Liberating guilt and fear

RE – 417 Hz – Undoing situations and facilitating change

MI – 528 Hz – Trasformation and miracles (DNA repair)

FA – 639 Hz – Connecting and relationships

SOL – 741 Hz – Expression/ Solutions

LA – 852 Hz – Awakening intuition

Dr Joseph Puleo and Dr Leonard Horowitz have spent years studying the Solfeggio scale and its beauty and healing properties.  Dr. Horowitz has deduced there are three more perfect notes which should be added to this scale.  They are 174 Hz, 285 Hz at the bottom of the scale and 925 Hz at the top.  When added to the six original Solfeggio frequencies they create three perfect triads of notes:  3 x 3 = 9.  Dr Horowitz calls this the “Perfect Circle of Sound.”   Dr. Horowitz also offers video tutorials to assist musicians in how to tune a guitar or a synthesizer keyboard instrument to the correct Solfeggio scale.  More information can be found at www.love528.com.

Click on the Youtube video below to hear the Solfeggio scale and see the amazing affect this beautiful scale has on water:

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’;  “I believe 528 Hz is indeed a miracle frequency which can transform our lives.”imagesCATLDSLP
