Global Warming Is Real, Part 2

The other day I had a  spirited discussion with one of my best friends.  The discussion was about the truth of global warming.   My friend believes  it will be impossible to get the cooperation needed to put an end to the use of fossil fuels and the polution they cause if the truth of global warming is known.  She believes people will act only if they believe they must act or be destroyed by global warming.

It is my belief that people will act in the best interest of all only when they do understand the truth.  The truth is Global warming is a natural 100,000 year cycle that  cannot be corrected through  legislation, fines, or regulations.   We could totally clean up man-made co2 polution and it would not stop global warming.

Man-made co2 polution is a BIG problem.  It affects  our health,  the air we breathe, earth’s plant life,  animal life, our monuments, our oceans and aquatic species.  The list could go on and on.  Polution affects you and me every day of our lives.  It is an issue that can be aided through legislation and regulations,  and is a seperate issue from global warming.   Global warming is a fact  we need to deal with  as a natural cycle that cannot be legislated.  We must get about the business of  mitigating  its disasterous affects.  We should be looking for ways to help those living in areas  most impacted by rising sea levels, drought, desalinization of sea water, and a myriad of other problems caused by gobal warming.

A illlustration of what happens when we are not educated about the truth of global warming is the 2010  Copenhagen Climate Summit.  Present at the meetings were presidents, prime minisers, kings, queens and dictators (rather than their representatives).  Hopes were high that these world leaders could address a problem that transcends our differences of politics and policy.  What happened instead according to Nicolas Stern, chair of the Grantham Research Institute of Climate Change and Environment was disappointing due  at least in part, to the attitude of the wealthier nations.

Apparently the wealthier nations did not understand the mind-set and the problems of some of the poorer nations who had experienced thousands of deaths and billions of dollars in economic losses due to climate change.   Many observers  indicated the wealthier countries apparently did not due their homework.  There was a lot of finger pointing about which country was most at fault and who should pay the most to address climate change.

The failure of the Copenhagen Summit was an indication of a world  based on false assumptions of science.   Namely that nature is based upon “survival of the fittest”, global warming is caused by man-made polution,  the only thing that matters is matter,  everything is seperate from everything else,  cousciousness is seperate from our physical world, and advanced civilization dates back only 5,000 years.

If our leaders had understood;

1.  Global warming and cooling  are natural cycles  based on earth’s rotation through the universe and its proximity to the sun.

2.  Advanced civilizations prior to the 5,000 years of recorded human history have survived similar global warming and cooling cycles.

3.   Because we are all connected, whatever  affects one of us affects all of us.

4.  Survival of the most cooperative is and always has been the way our world thrives.

The summit in Copenhagen was a missed opportunity.  If all present had understood the new science it could have  led to a radically different outcome.  It is clear  we must shift our attitudes and  basic assumptions if we are to find effective solutions for global warming.

Polution is a problem that needs to be seperated from global warming.   It is a crisis over which we have a lot of control.  We are earth’s care givers and in many ways we are not making wise decisions.  Corrections can be made.  Individually we can make small choices that will add up to major advancements in polution control.

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’; “I believe the scripture in John 8 vs 32 that reads…’And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free’ “.
