Your Good Health is in Your Hands

Vitruvian ManFor well over 20 years I have studied the benefits natural healing and supplementing a healthy diet with vitamins and nutrients.  I believe in giving my body what it needs to maintain good health.  When I feel a cold or flu coming on, I know that vitamin C can be my best defense.  At the first sign of a cold, I start taking 1000 milligrams of Vitamin C per waking hour and the cold is  defeated before it begins. I’ve learned that minimum daily requirements are just that…… minimum requirements.  For instance, the minimum daily requirement for vitamin C is 60 milligrams.   That is the amount of vitamin C needed to prevent scurvy.  But I want to live my life at optimum, not minimum.  As we age our bodies need more than minimums to maintain optimum good health.

As a society we have been lulled into a sense that our good health is dependent on doctors prescribing the right drugs.  Big Pharma has taken center stage happily taking our money for prescriptions for everything from restless legs to impotence.   Big Pharma wines and dines our physicians to the tune of thousands of dollars annually.  It also gives monitary incentives dependent on the prescriptions they write.  They also provide our doctors with continuing education seminars so they will know how to use these drugs. Big Pharma buys commercial time appealing to us to ask our doctors for their drugs.  Big Pharma’s primary interest is material gain, diverting medicine from healing to profiteering.  These high priced drugs and treatments have doubled the cost of health care over the past thirty years.   Big Pharma has deep pockets which they use to attack natural medicine in an attempt to deprive Americans of the benefits of dietary supplements and natural healing modalities.

And something even worse has happened in the process.  Iatrogenic if not the number one cause of death, is at least the number three cause of death in the United States.  Iatrogenic… that a word familiar to you?  If not, it should be.  The definition of iatrogenic is:  “Death caused by the diagnosis, manner or treatment by a physician.”  But whether medicine is the number one killer or the number three killer is really irrelevant.  The point is that health care isn’t supposed to be on the list at all.   And now our health care system refers to these patient deaths as the cost of doing medicine.   Something is wrong when regulatory agencies pretend that vitamins are dangerous, yet ignore published statistics showing that government-sanctioned medicine is the real hazard. The fully documented book, Death by Medicine, details the horrific annual mortality and economic cost of medical intervention.  The Nutrition Institute of America is a nonprofit organization that has sponsored independent research for the past 30 years.  To support its bold claim that conventional medicine is America’s number one killer, the Nutritional Institute of America mandated that every “count” in this “indictment” of US medicine be validated by published, peer-reviewed scientific studies.  This book is a must read.

I encourage you to take responsibility for your own health.   Your body is amazingly resilient. Give yourself a chance to heal naturally.   Learn about nutrition and natural healing.   Eat a healthy diet.   Supplement with high quality vitamins, minerals and enzymes.  Exercise….it builds healthy bones and relieves stress.  Don’t overlook the role a positive attitude plays in your health.  We are all about as healthy as we expect to be.   Don’t fall victim to unnecessary surgery, hospitalization and drugs.  No doubt there are times when surgery, hospitalization and drugs are very helpful.  Just do your homework and make sure you are not overlooking natural remedies and treatments.

For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’:  “Love yourself enough to take good care of yourself.  Take responsibility for your health.  Only then can we reform our broken medical system.”
