I sat in my garden this morning soaking in the beauty. It felt surreal, invigorating and rejuvenating. There is something undeniably peaceful and loving about immersing yourself fully in a beautiful garden. I sat on a stone bench listening to the sound of rushing water and song birds. The blossoms created a koleidoscope of color…..varying shades of red, yellow, white, gold, orange, pink, lavender, burgandy and green. The sweet scent of lillies filled the air. My heart was filled with appreciation for such beauty and I felt at peace.
A flower’s purpose is simply to bring love, beauty, fragrance and necter into this world. I am blessed by simply observing their beauty. My daily ritual is to walk through the garden enjoying each new blossom. Once in a while, I’ll sigh as I find an unnoticed faded bloom. It’s sad when a flower has bloomed and given it’s all yet gone unappreciated.
A garden can be a sacred place to reconnect with God. One of my very favorite songs is A Walk in The Garden. It beautifully expresses our connection to God in the exquisite beauty of a garden. Although it is often sung at funerals, I believe it celebrates the amazing connection between a lovely garden and our eternal essence. We are reminded that we are children of God, not just in death, but literally His child every day of life:
“I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses.
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear, the son of God discloses.
And He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own.
And the joy we share as we tarry there none other has ever known.
He speaks and the sound of His voice is so sweet the birds hush their singing.
And the melody that He gave to me within my heart is ringing.
And He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own.
And the joy we share as we tarry there none other has ever known.”
For now, Earlynn’s just sayin’; “We all need a place in nature to reconnect to God. Make it a priority to find your place of reconnection. Below is a Youtube audio of Elvis singing In The Garden. I hope you’ll enjoy it.”
