I believe that once we understand how the universe is constructed we will see that it is so simple and so beautiful that as physicist John Wheeler predicted we will say; “Oh, how could have been otherwise.”
The famous poet, William Blake wrote these beautiful words:
“To see a world in a grain of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour. ”
Blake beautifully reminded us that the universe is contained in the simplicity of each fragment. The universe is seen in fractal recurring patterns. Everything from a single atom to the entire cosmos is made of just a few natural patterns that repeat and build on themselves on larger scales. Even though these patterns are complex they can be reduced to a few simple forms.
One of those recurring patterns is phi. Phi is generally considered the most beautiful number in the universe. Phi is the number that we get when we compare one part of a thing to another part of itself after that thing is divided in a precise way. The ratio is called the golden ratio, or phi (.618).
The Great Pyramid is made up of about 2.3 million individually formed stones, weighing up to 70 tons each. It covers 13 acres and is nearly perfectly level across the entire area. (It is believed that when it was built, the pyramid was perfectly level, but the small variance today is because the earth has shifted under the weight of the pyramid through the centuries.) It’s height is 5,449 inches, which is the average height of Earth’s landmass above sea level. And it is located in the geographic center of the landmass of the planet. It cannot be denied that the builders of the Great Pyramid knew and used the Golden Ratio in its construction. A line drawn from the apex (top) of the capstone to the edge at the base of each face is a measurement that is phi in units.
Also, the proportions of the human body are governed by the golden ratio:
The ratio of navel height to total body height is .618
The ratio of the length of hand to that of forearm is .618
The ratio of human face from the brow to the chin is .618.
The body’s ratios continue with additional proportions and even include the location of organs determined by .618. The golden ratio applies to eveything from brain states of consciousness to the proportions of DNA. For example, one complete turn of a DNA strand is 34 angstrom units in length and 21 wide. 21 to 34 approximates the golden ratio of .618.
We also see recurring patterns in time. Gregg Braden has written a fascinating book entitled, Fractal Time. The book shows how our world is governed by recurring fractal patterns and cycles in time. One of those interesting time cycles is called the “20 year curse” of American presidents:
Year elected President Event
1840 William Henry Harrison Died in office
1860 Abraham Lincoln Assassinated
1880 James Garfield Assassinated
1900(re-election year) William McKinley Assassinated
1920 Warren Harding Died in office
1940 (re-election year) Franklin Roosevelt Died in office
1960 John F Kennedy Assassinated
1980 Ronald Reagan Survived assassination attempt*
2000 George W Bush Survived assassination attempt**
*The wounds from the gun used by John Hinkley, Jr. were serious but not fatal.
** Bush avoided injury from a grenade that was tossed in his direction during a visit to Georgia, the former Soviet satellite state.
The similarities between Lincoln and Kennedy are uncanny and bizarre. Lincoln was sitting in box number 7 of Ford’s theatre when he was killed. Kennedy was riding in car number 7, a Lincoln offered by the Ford Motor Company when he died. Both were with their wives at the time. Lincoln was elected to congress in 1846, while Kennedy was elected to congress 100 years later in 1946. Lincoln was elected president in 1860 and Kennedy was elected 100 years later in 1960. The last name of the men who replaced them in office was the same – Johnson and both Johnsons were born 100 years apart. Andrew Johnson was born in 1808, while Lyndon Johnson was born in 1908.
Both presidents had four children and both had lost two of them before they reached their teens. Both had lost sons while serving in the White House. The doctors for both had the same name: Charles Taft. The name of Lincoln’s private secretary was John (Kennedy’s first name), and that of Kennedy’s secretary was Lincoln (Abraham’s last name). A law-enforcement agent named Baker detained Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth. An officer who was also named Baker held Kennedy’s shooter, Lee Harvey Oswald.
Regardless of why or how the deaths and lives of Kennedy and Lincoln are so similar, the fact is the similarities are undeniable. As Greg Braden says; “While this example could be chalked up to some sort of bizarre karma between these two men, the reality is that it exists. Whether we like to admit the similarities or not, the answer to our question of whether or not history repeats itself appears obvious. For at least these two events, it appears to be yes.…….and what does this tell us about the cyclic nature of time?”
In his book, Gregg Braden goes on to show many more examples of time cycles, offering suggestions about how Factal Time cycles have affected our world and given us “Choice Points.” Points in time where opportunities are present to break cycles of war and hatred and set new patterns for a peaceful new world.
For now, Earlynn’s just sayin; “Look around….you’ll see examples of recurring patterns all around. Rejoyce in patterns that bring love and peace and look for “Choice Points” to put an end to old unproductive patterns.”
Flower of Life is a beautiful expression of recurring patterns.
